Job Description:
Purpose:-- The Merchandising team is responsible for managing
the relationship between the SNS Retailer, Supplier and UNFI. The
team establishes the base relationship with the stores and
supplier, with a critical focus on managing and educating the
supplier on how to do business with UNFI and the specific needs of
the brand. Key areas for Merchandising include, but not limited to
development of retail plans, supplier strategy, negotiations of
supplier programs/terms, service level, and deduction disputes as
well as communications to the stores.--The Merchandising Intern
will gain exposure to a variety of learning experiences in a real
working environment. The intern would contribute significantly to
tasks such as: working with retail managers, reporting, supplier
interaction and communication, and system processes. The Intern
would also be exposed to different team members within
Merchandising and finish the internship with a Capstone
project.--Job Responsibilities: Identifies and validates
opportunities within a given category, market or division,
competitive pricing, market data and many other sources.
Collaborates with merchandising team to develop and implement base
pricing strategies, rules and parameters.
Interpret trends and spot opportunities to improve sales and
profitability.
Conducts special merchandising and business-related research.
Monitors and tracks vendor compliance and performance. Works with
vendors to identify category opportunities and track performance
against category business plans and store execution
opportunities.
Updates and reviews all key promotional pricing metrics and
prepares recommendations for action as needed Provides data,
support and reporting and analysis for semester planning.
Coordinates promotional plans (ads and displays) and merchandising
messages within department as assigned by management.
Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information on a daily
basis. Performs other relevant job duties as required.----Job
Requirements:Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)
Working towards a Bachelor's degree required.-- Preferred major
Business, Marketing, or Communications --Experience:
Junior or Senior level experience in degree program
General retail experience and/or retail or wholesale grocery
background is a plus--Knowledge: Basic business math skills needed
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel,
PowerPoint, and Word--Skills/ Abilities: Strong written, verbal and
interpersonal communication skill Ability to work with people at
all levels of the organization Must be a self-starter, exhibiting
the ability and drive to set & execute a plan independently Ability
to work both independently and with team Ability to learn,
understand and utilize UNFI legacy IT systems: SV Harbor, CICS,
Buying system Organizational skills & ability to multi-task and
keep multiple projects moving forward at the same time--PHYSICAL
ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS: Some travel may be required Most work is
performed in a temperature-controlled office environment Incumbent
may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with
hands and arms; and talk or hear.--
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other
office equipment in the course of normal workday Stooping, bending,

Compensation:UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate
(or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position.
Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors,
including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and
any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
