Roles & Responsibilities Prepare patients for radiologic exams and explain procedures clearly and compassionately Position patients and select proper techniques to obtain diagnostic-quality images Operate CR, DR and fluoroscopy rooms safely and efficiently Move and operate portable radiography equipment across departments including ED, OR and PACU Assist Radiologists and Fluoro Techs during special procedures and fluoroscopic exams Prepare, administer and document IV and oral contrast media, and respond to contrast reactions per protocol Transfer images to PACS, scan documents, change study priority (STAT/URGENT) and maintain accurate documentation Maintain clean, safe work areas and perform proper start-up/shutdown of equipment Practice and promote radiation safety consistent with ALARA principles Perform clerical tasks, quality assurance duties and support departmental workflow Qualifications Registered with the ARRT in Radiology (ARRT registration required) BLS certified (meets American Heart Association Healthcare Provider standards) and renewed every two years Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology training program High school diploma or equivalent One year of hospital/clinic radiology experience preferred Comfortable operating CR, DR, Fluoro systems and CR readers/printers Experience with PACS and image routing Ability to prepare/administer contrast media and follow contrast reaction procedures Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams Familiarity with sterile technique for OR procedures and portable imaging Education High School diploma or equivalent Completion of a specialized Radiologic Technology program (ARRT-approved) Knowledge & Skills Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology relevant to diagnostic radiography Patient positioning and proper imaging technique for diagnostic quality Radiologic equipment operation and routine troubleshooting Radiation safety practices and ALARA principles PACS workflow, image transfer and CD/image release processes Portable radiography in ED, OR and inpatient settings Clerical and documentation skills including accurate charting and order verification Quality assurance processes and attention to detail Customer service skills to provide a positive patient experience Benefits Generous housing stipend to make your contract comfortable Medical, Dental & Vision coverage 401K retirement savings plan Life Insurance Paid Time Off to recharge Travel reimbursement and relocation support Licensure assistance & reimbursement Referral bonus program A supportive team that values YOU and work-life balance Travel Perks: Explore State College, PA State College is a lively college town anchored by Penn State University — catch a game at Beaver Stadium, stroll the Arboretum at Penn State, or hike Mount Nittany for great views.
