Registered Nurse (RN) | Cardiac Telemetry Location: Bridgeport, WV Agency: Mindlance Health Pay: $2,182 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Mindlance Health to find a qualified Cardiac Tele RN in Bridgeport, West Virginia, 26330! ID: 75675350 Shift: 12H Nights 12 hr nights, weekends as scheduled Description: Unit Notes:50 mile radius rule - ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF CANDIDATE'S UNEXPIRED DRIVER'S LICENSEUnit6N Cardiac/Tele - PCU (Stepdown) (Cost Center - 002) BedsHow many beds are on your unit, suites, labs, etc. Are they all private rooms? Anything else specific 36- RatiosWhat are your nursing ratios?MedSurg/Tele acuity 1:5, possibly 1:6 but that would be rare & would only occur if anticipating a discharge. PCU acuity 1:4 Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?)"What certifications are required for your floor?Ex: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS"BLS Common diagnoses/Types of patients"What are common diagnosises or types of patients that you care for on your unit or in your department? "Cardiac patients, CR bands, post cath, AMI, Post-OP lung surgeries after out of CCU, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, post PCI, will not pull sheaths, no art lines, etc. This unit is really higher acuity than most Telemetry units. Will more than likely require a Stepdown RN for this unit. Experience or 'Must have' skills"Please indicate any experience that travelers absolutely MUST have experience with to work on your unit?Is there any experience you prefer travelers to have, but are okay if they don't have the experience?Are you okay with first time travelers?"Are RNs required to titrate drips?"Do you titrate any drips on your unit (Heparin, insulin, nitro, etc)?Does your unit take any set rate cardiac gtts (amio, dopamine, dobutamine, etc.)?"YesCommon titratable &/or set rate drips"What drips do you titrate? What drips are set rate? "Occasional cardiac gtts with titration (ie Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, heparin, Ativan, Lasix, & Nitro up to 50 mcg) MUST be able to titrate gtts - more than likely will be a Stepdown RN vs. Tele RN with these skillsCharge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?"Is there a charge nurse, lead, or supervisor available 24/7?Do they take a patient assignment? Is there a House Supervisor in house 24/7?"Charge Nurse 24/7. Days does not take patients; Nights does take patientsAre there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios"Do you use CNAs, PCT, or Techs? What are their ratios? What are their typical job duties? Can they take blood sugars?"They try to have a CNA for every 9 patients; Ideally they do Team Nursing w/ 1 RN & 1 CNA for 6-7 patientsRT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc)"Is RT directly available or designated to your unit?Do you have Bipap, Cpap, or High Flow, vents, or trachs on your unit? Are nurses expected to manage respiratory equipment?Do RN or RTs administered respirtory treatments (breathing treatments, inhalers, etc)?"CPAP & BiPap only - RT managesAre there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?"Do you have telemetry on your unit or in your department?What brand are the monitors? Do nurses have to read & interpret strips?Do you have monitor techs? "Phillips monitors. They have monitor techs but RN's must be able to read & interpret stripsShifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?)"What are your shift hours? 7-7? Do you utilize self scheduling or is it done by the manager or scheduler?Do you allow block scheduling?How far out do you make the schedule? 4 or 6 weeks at a time?"12 hour shifts 7a - 7p; 7p - 7a Weekend Requirements"What is your weekend requirement? How many weekends or weekend shifts are traverlers required to work? Every other? What are you weekend shifts, example Days- Sat/Sun or Nights- Sat/Fri? "Every-other-weekend. Sat/Sun for both Days/NightsHoliday Requirements"Do you require travelers to work holidays?Do you work them into the perm staff rotation schedule?"Work in the holiday rotation schedule with perm staffIs there call or a standby requirement?"If call or standby call is required, how often does it happen? Do all staff rotate through a call schedule or sign up?"Floating Requirements"What units do staff typically float to?Are travelers the first to float?Do you cap ratios when necessary?
