Registered Nurse (RN) | Correctional Location: Youngstown, OH Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,924 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 8 Weeks Start Date: 2/24/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: One year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Current licensure in the state of employment required Certifications: Valid driver's license required Must-Have: US Citizenship and social security card required for facility clearance Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing Licensed Independent Provider orders and dispensing and administering medications. The RN assists Licensed Independent Providers in examinations and treatment of patients. Nursing and supervisory techniques are applied as required in the care and treatment of residents. All technical and clinical procedures must be performed within the scope of education and licensure. The RN will attend sick calls with the physician to see residents and prepare lists of those to be examined. Examining rooms and equipment will also need to be prepared. Pill call operations may require dispensing medication and documenting as per policies and procedures. The RN will contact Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders or other emergencies. Examination and assessment of new residents with illnesses or injuries is required, along with referring them to emergency services as needed. Emergency procedures must be performed as necessary, notifying the Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders. Coordination of professional medical services provided by contract personnel is also part of the role. Monitoring inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate is expected. The RN will provide guidance, supervision, and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational or practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff. A good working relationship must be maintained with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and outside agencies. Established corporate, facility, and correctional policies will be utilized in decision-making. The provision of medical services will be regularly evaluated to prevent inappropriate use or duplication. Absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records must be maintained. Assistance to the Health Service Administrator in reviewing medical files for documentation of provided services will be necessary. Potential catastrophic illnesses should be closely monitored. Auditing pharmacy use for adherence to formulary, as directed or required, is expected. Compliance with applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances, is mandatory. Observation and recording of resident behavior is part of the responsibilities. Inspection of the medical unit for contraband items by residents is required, with secure storage or safe disposal of supplies and equipment. Health counseling and education must be provided on an individual or group basis. Assistance to the Health Service Administrator in preparing and maintaining various records and reports is necessary. The RN must read, analyze, comprehend, and interpret medical procedures, regulations, and documents. Responses to lawsuits, including attendance at court hearings when necessary, will be required. Physical safety requirements necessary for a safe working environment must be evaluated and recommended. Facilitation of accreditation of the medical program by providing the required level of efficiency and appropriate services is necessary. Preparation and dissemination of safety and accident reports as required by policies and procedures will be part of the role. The RN will escort residents or coordinate their movement to and from areas for medical treatment. Searches will be performed to detect and identify potential contraband. Engaging in functions in confined areas, including rotating shifts and checking security of doors and windows, is expected. The RN must take appropriate action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations. Rescue functions during accidents, emergencies, and disasters will include administering basic emergency medical aid. Securing and evacuating individuals from confined areas is required.
