Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Wheeling, West
Virginia. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU -
Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP -
Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights -
Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: RN - Stepdown Job Details: •
Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 PM • Must be on unit
ready to go by 6:45 PM • Weekend requirements include working 4
weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule (Friday, Saturday, Sunday
considered weekend shifts) • Patient ratios typically 1:5, with
goal of 1:4, occasionally could be 1:6 • Required to float to other
units (Telemetry, Medical-Surgical, Pandemic Unit) as needed with
ratios up to 1:6-7 • Self-scheduling allowed as long as unit needs
are met with 4 requested days off per month • Must maintain 50-mile
radius requirement with valid driver's license copy required •
Dress code: Navy blue scrubs (top and bottom), navy scrub jackets,
no hoodies • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS • Must be
able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently • Must be
comfortable titrating drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem,
Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally
Lasix • Use Allscripts charting system and Sunrise EMR • Care for
patients with chest pain, rule out MI, CHF, arrhythmias,
post-pacemaker, pre/post cardiac catheterization procedures •
Manage radial bands and groin checks, Tikosyn therapy patients •
Two-day orientation: first day includes 4 hours with HR and 8 hours
on unit with preceptor, second day on unit with preceptor •
Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week contract • Must be
flexible for holiday coverage when needed Facility: This healthcare
facility features a 30-bed Intermediate Care Unit with a mix of
private and semi-private rooms, providing specialized care for
patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and treatment. The
facility maintains comprehensive support services including 24/7
hospitalist coverage, in-house intensivist, IV team, respiratory
therapy, and pharmacy services. The organization utilizes advanced
telemetry monitoring systems and provides extensive support staff
to ensure quality patient care in a well-equipped acute care
environment. Location: Wheeling, WV Wheeling offers a rich blend of
