Registered Nurse (RN) | Operating Room Location: State College, PA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,394 per week Shift Information: Rotating - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Operating Room Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room / Circulation & Scrub Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday; Rotating shifts: 0630-1500, 0900-1730, 1100-1930; Call and weekend opportunities available Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years prior Operating Room experience required License: Registered Nurse license in the State of Pennsylvania Certifications: Must meet the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Must-Have: Completion of an accredited registered nurse program is required; a BSN is preferred. Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of perioperative nursing practices. Ability to maintain knowledge, skills, and competency in perioperative nursing. Description: Responsible for overall nursing practice in the operating room. Provides professional nursing care based on current perioperative nursing knowledge. Uses the nursing process for assessment of the patient and pertinent health data. Analyzes collected data based on perioperative nursing theory and experience. Develops and implements a plan of care to meet patients' needs. Evaluates patient care outcomes for pediatric through geriatric age populations. Functions as a liaison between patients and staff. Supports harmonious communication skills among the healthcare team. Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance when dealing with patients and families. Updates the plan of care based on the patient’s existing and potential problems. Ensures supplies and equipment for surgical care are readily available and functional. Maintains a sterile field throughout the procedure following principles of asepsis. Recognizes changes in health care status and directs appropriate care for patient safety. Applies principles of aseptic technique, electrical, chemical, and laser safety, and patient care management. Documents individualized changes in the plan of care. Provides preoperative education to patients and families regarding surgical processes. Documents patient interactions appropriately.
