Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Stepdown - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry-Stepdown position requiring a PA or compact RN license, with strong cardiac monitoring and drip titration skills. Responsibilities - Work in a 28-bed stepdown (IMCU/Tele) unit within an acute care hospital - Care for a primarily cardiac patient population, including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and ICU stepdowns - Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5, or 1:6 for MedSurg acuity - Work 3 consecutive 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. - Required to work every other weekend, including both Saturday and Sunday, and one winter holiday - Float to ICU as needed to provide helping hands - EPIC and Cerner EMRs are used on the unit - Monitor techs are present, but RNs must read and interpret cardiac strips and manage central monitoring - Must titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; insulin drips are set-rate - Use of BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow oxygen as respiratory interventions - Participate in floor-specific orientation with two preceptor shifts - Navy blue scrubs required, including jackets if worn - Hospitalist available in-house 24/7; ICU intensivist available 7a-7p and on-call after hours - No IV team, but ICU resources are available for difficult sticks - Night shift charge nurse may also take patients - No CNA support after 11 p.m. - Must work within holiday rotation as assigned to permanent staff - Local candidates are not accepted; must live outside of a 50-mile radius - Returning travelers must not have worked at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years - Cumulative travel assignments within WVU cannot exceed one year before a 2-year break is required - First-time travelers are welcome Requirements - Active PA or compact RN license - Minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown or similar acute care experience - Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS - Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips - Demonstrated experience with titrating cardiac drips - Ability to float to ICU as needed - Submission must include an unexpired copy of the candidate’s driver’s license Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-617429.
