Full-time Description Designs products or systems, such as
instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical,
thermal, hydraulic, and/ or new products, applying knowledge of CAD
and basic engineering principles using SolidWorks software to
create 3D models, technical drawings, and assemblies for
engineering and manufacturing projects. Direct and coordinates
activities involved in fabrication, operation, application,
installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical
products and/or systems. Read and interpret blueprints, technical
drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS Create detailed 3D parts and complex assemblies,
including mating surfaces and library parts. Produce accurate 2D
production drawings, shop drawings, and build packages with correct
dimensions and tolerances. Conduct simulations, stress analyses,
and model reviews to verify design integrity before physical
prototyping. Develop and maintain comprehensive BOMs and assembly
instructions for procurement and production. Work closely with
engineers, manufacturers, and clients to resolve design issues and
ensure manufacturability (DFM). Use Product Data Management (PDM)
systems to track revisions, manage CAD libraries, and maintain
version control Optimizing parts to reduce count, ensuring they are
self-aligning, and maximizing symmetry to lower production costs.
Perform basic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or motion studies
to test form, fit and function of a design. Lead and/ or
participate in reviews to incorporate feedback from design,
quality, logistics, and production teams Adapt to sudden design
changes moved deadlines with ease, often working on multiple,
concurrent projects Draw wiring diagrams, circuit board assembly
diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings used for manufacture,
installation, and repair of electro-mechanical equipment. Consults
with engineers to discuss and interpret design concepts and
determine requirements of detailed working drawings. Reviews
blueprints to determine customer requirements. Fluent using
Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint software. Confer with engineers
and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve
system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Work
closely with other CAD personnel in developing the design of
products using drafting CAD software. Requirements Associate’s
degree in Drafting or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical
Engineering. Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) or Professional
(CSWP) a plus Intermediate to Expert knowledge of SolidWorks
(parts, assemblies, drawings, simulation, analysis). Familiarity
with PDM software a plus. Strong understanding of mechanical design
principles, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and
manufacturing processes. 5 years’ experience using SolidWorks
software. Aviation design background a plus. Knowledge of Design
for Assembly and Design for Manufacturability Techniques a plus.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) a
plus. Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and
instruments involved in the production and use of precision
technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Must be able to
obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. While performing the duties
of this job, the employee routinely is required to learn and apply
