Job Description Job Description Mission Summary The AV Test
Operations Manager is responsible for establishing best practices
and operational protocols for Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Operators,
working in collaboration with AV Test Supervisors and Leadership.
Reporting to the Director of AV Test Operations, this role drives
the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Motional's AV
testing and commercial fleet. This role serves as the secondary
escalation point for Vehicle Operators encountering operational
issues that cannot be resolved by Supervisors or require managerial
intervention. As an operational leader, you will oversee on-site
teams, facilitate scalable operational frameworks, and build strong
partnerships across engineering, program management, and fleet
operations. You will champion a culture of safety, accountability,
and innovation, while ensuring that Test Operations directly
enables Motional's roadmap toward commercialization and a
driverless future. What you'll be doing: Coordinate with various
cross-functional departments, including Autonomy, Test Engineering,
Data Analytics, Fleet Operations, and Safety, to secure and
allocate necessary resources for efficient and compliant
operations. Proactive management of Test Operations to mitigate
testing disruption Provide backup support for Vehicle Operator (VO)
scheduling and vehicle dispatching. Develop and execute long-term
operational planning and strategy for a 6- to 12-month horizon.
Propose and execute on process and team efficiencies while
maintaining the highest safety standards. Conduct weekly
performance management check-ins with Supervisors. Review and
investigate dash camera footage as required. Collect and
meticulously track operational data and intelligence. Administer
formal Performance Reviews for Operations Supervisors. Uphold and
rigorously enforce company policies, procedures and performance
management. Lead and manage group-level projects. Provide backup
support for Supervisors in leading their staff. Deliver
professional job coaching and development to both Operators and
Supervisors. Participate in the interviewing and selection process
for open positions reporting to the department. Possess shift
flexibility and be available for on-call duties. Capable of
transporting employees to occupational health facilities (e.g.,
Concentra) and operating company vehicles. Execute other duties as
formally assigned. What we're looking for: . Minimum of three (3)
years of progressive management experience. Minimum of two (2)
years of experience within the Autonomous Vehicle (AV) industry or
other technical operations management experience. Advanced
proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite Applications.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated
strength in verbal and written communication, including public
speaking and formal presentation delivery. Proven ability to thrive
in a high-paced and dynamic operational testing environment and
successfully meet multiple demanding deadlines. Must possess a
valid, in-state driver's license relevant to the primary working
location. Maintain the ability to travel domestically up to 10% of
the time. Bonus points (not required): Experience in data
analytics. Prior experience in formal coaching and mentoring.
Familiarity with Jira and Confluence platforms. Physical Demands
The employee is routinely required to utilize vision, sit, engage
in conversation, and listen; frequently required to use repetitive
hand motion, manipulate or feel objects, and to stand, walk, reach,
bend, or lift up to fifty (50) pounds. Working Environment This
role requires the ability to interface with both office and field
environments. While primarily office-based, the Manager of AV Test
Operations may be present at test facilities, requiring the ability
to safely operate and ride in autonomous vehicles, oversee vehicle
inspections, anticipate frequent interruptions during the workday,
and engage in field operations as needed. Reasonable accommodations

based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not
limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role
location, certifications, licenses, and business needs. The
